Furnishing our house for CHEAP!!!

We just moved into our first house together!! So exciting!!! What is not exciting, is how much everything costs. So, how are we furnishing our new house on a budget?!?

We have LOTS of hand-me-downs for this house.  Lucky for us, our families have acquired quite the furniture collection over the years, and have passed down so many amazing pieces to us. We are so grateful for them, as it has saved us so much money.

Thrifting and antiquing is one of our favorite past times. The majority of stuff getting moved into this house has been thrifted. Not only is this easy on our wallets, but we love old stuff! It is so fun to give something a second chance. Most of our favorite, "main" pieces were thrifted/antiqued. We like to find one piece per room that we absolutely love. Then we use that piece as our creative inspiration, and plan everything else around it! We have special pieces from all over the country and even world! Every time we travel somewhere new, we find local antique shops and try to find some treasures. I joke that one day I will have to open my own shop due to having so much stuff!

Don't be afraid to scavenge for furniture for your home or even do some building projects!!! Goodwill is a great place to find stuff, along with checking the local newspaper for estate sales! Antique malls are our favorite. Sometimes stuff can be expensive, but if you get lucky you can find something really valuable for cheap, because most people don't realize what they have.

This chair is a dream come true. I found this chair at a thrift store in Harrisonburg, VA for $50. They retail for SO much more, especially since it is vintage!

This beautiful dresser belonged to Duke's great grandmother. That little wicker bull head traveled all the way home with us in our suitcase from Segovia, Spain. And that lamp -- thrifted for $4!!!

Being creative and making this space ours has been so fun! We hope to do a home tour video soon. Thanks for following along.
