USAFA Grad Traditions

Duke recently joined the long blue line of graduates from the US Air Force Academy. This is huge, and the week that we spent in Colorado celebrating will be one of my most cherished memories for the rest of my life.

After completing their last final, it is tradition for the graduating cadets to jump into the usafa fountains.

Duke had his commissioning ceremony the night before graduation. During this ceremony he was commissioned as a 2 Lt in the United States Air Force. Both of his parents were able to pin on his new rank, his butter bars! The following morning was usafa graduation, Wednesday May 23rd, Duke's very last academy event.

US Secretary of Defense Gen Mattis spoke at the gradation, so incredible!!

After shaking Mad Dog Mattis' hand and receiving his diploma, Duke gave his first salute to his roommate, who walked across the stage only seconds before.

Duke and Dan share a special hug after both gradating.

Duke is now saluted by the person next in line.

After all newly graduated 2nd Lts were dismissed, the Air Force Thunderbirds few over and then continued with a 30 min air show. That is when the real tears started. So much pride for this country, and so so so freaking proud of you, 2nd Lt Gosney. I am so excited for this officer life adventure with you!!
